In this role the right candidate will be applying her/his skills to drive the energy transition with a NYSE-listed European public company building a battery cell gigafactory near Atlanta, GA.  We believe batteries are integral to over 50% of all carbon abatement actions.

In this position you will get to be the first member of our legal team in the US and will therefore have a broad level of responsibility, combined with competitive terms and conditions. Overall, this role offers a wide range of opportunities to gain valuable experience working with contracts, commercial agreements and corporate issues.

The role is based in Newnan, GA and reports to the EVP driving the development of the US gigafactory, but also reports to our Chief Legal Officer in Norway and co-operates extensively with the legal team based in Norway. This will provide you with international exposure, gaining more insight into European business culture.

The role will have a wide range of tasks and the right candidate is expected to be both very proactive as well as very operational.

In this role you will get to:

• Improve the robustness of all sorts of contracts in terms of business benefit, risk management, best practice, clarity and compliance  
• Develop key business partnerships, primarily through drafting, discussing, negotiating, editing and enhancing agreements
• Address corporate issues such as corporate documents, licenses, permits and concessions in order to help the business develop safely and securely 
• Provide legal advice on any and every question that may arise

 To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in, ideally, a mix of law firm and in-house counsel roles
• Juris Doctorate, Master of law (or equivalent)
• Extensive experience working with contracts, corporate documents and partnership agreements (JV, supply, power purchase, procurement and related energy and manufacturing agreements)
• Concrete experience in more than one of the various licensing processes a manufacturing company might be involved in
• Desirable experience in renewable energy and manufacturing industries
• Flexible, cooperative and practical mindset
• Admitted to at least one US state bar (with eligibility to work in-house in GA)
