We are looking for a Senior Engineer – Battery Management System / Electronics to help drive our new product development.

FREYR Battery is on a mission to decarbonize energy and transportation systems globally by producing the world’s most sustainable battery cells. Over 50% of all carbon mitigation is dependent on batteries. The industry is experiencing exponential growth.

FREYR is well set to succeed in this extremely exciting sector. We opened our first commercial-scale battery cell factory in Mo i Rana, Norway at the end of March. We will use this plant to prove both 24M’s semi-solid technology and our various products. This technology represents a breakthrough in the industry providing new Unique Selling Points, and much-reduced cost, CO2 footprint, capex, and factory size.

We will then build gigafactories based on 24M’s technology in Mo i Rana and in Georgia USA before expanding our technology base with other partners. We have concrete plans for building an enormous 200GWh capacity, which collectively can be expected to provide an annual turnover of more than $15 billion.

In this role of Senior Engineer – Battery Management System / Electronics you will take responsibility and work on the E/E Architecture, Components selection and Safety deployment during all steps of New Product Development Introduction.

The position reports to the Head of BMS & Systems Engineering and can be based in Lysaker Norway, Boston USA, or Luxemburg. Hybrid remote could also be an option for the correct candidate.

Main tasks include

• Define Requirements for Battery Management System Electronics
• Coordination of Design Review & Release with Supplier
• Work closely with external development partners to fast-track Control System Readiness
• Work closely with Cell/Module/Sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met
• Collaborate with Electrical System Design to ensure maximum performance of system
• Investigate Market Developments for Performance Improvements or Cost Saving Measures
• Develop Platform solutions for stationary, eMobility and EV (Electric Vehicle) applications

Qualifications – Required

• BSc in Electronics
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with relevant applications
• Mastery of embedded control system development
• Fluent in English, both written and oral

Qualifications - Advantageous

• Experience in requirement engineering
• Knowledge of model-based systems engineering
