FREYR Battery is on a mission to decarbonize energy and transportation systems globally by producing the world’s most sustainable battery cells.
The first step towards achieving our goals is building battery cell factories in Mo i Rana. We will soon be opening the doors to our Customer Qualification Plant – Norway's first industrial-scale lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility. Here we will validate and improve technology, materials, and cell designs as we prepare for commercial production at our Gigafactories. FREYR intends to install 50 GWh of battery cell capacity by 2025, 100 GWh annual capacity by 2028, and 200 GWh of annual capacity by 2030
We will build battery cell factories of increasing size in Mo I Rana and further globally as a significant contribution to the transition to a green economy. Without batteries, there can be no real change in the global energy system, the key to limiting global warming. These factories are a significant contribution to a more sustainable future.
We are looking for a highly qualified Lead Module Engineer to ensure that Freyr becomes a world-leading battery producer by establishing a strong product portfolio in the automotive and industrial ESS sectors.
The Product Management group functions as the link between Technology Development and Sales department. The creation of this link is the key to making our technology useful for the end-user.
You will be expected to take responsibility for the design and validation of ESS modules, delivering the all steps of New Product Development and Introduction.
The ideal candidates have a fundamental understanding of Li-Ion battery cell technology and experience with application of energy storage systems in relevant industry.
Your main tasks include:
Lead a team of module engineers for the design, validation, and homologation of ESS battery packs, according to the New Product Development and Introduction process
Own the module design and lead the technical risk assessment and mitigation activities, including requirements reviews, DFMEA, simulation, and testing.
Screening the competitors and supplier community for benchmarking and innovative module technology
Work closely with Engineering service providers, Component suppliers, and Line Integrators to optimize Design for Manufacturing.
Work closely with Cell and Application Engineering and Sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met
Work closely in a cross-functional team with members from Process, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations Departments to support flawless production launch according to Business targets
Perform reporting to management
We are looking for the following qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering
+5 years of experience with application or development or application of Energy Storage
Direct or indirect experience with design for manufacturing on a mass production scale
Experience with requirement engineering, documentation management and product certification
Fluent in English, both written and oral
The following qualifications are advantageous, but not a requirement:
Good understanding of the fundamentals of a lithium–ion battery
Experience of working in an international company on new product introductions within quality focus systems
