Mechanical Product Engineer
Very exciting role in dynamic team developing breakthrough semi-solid battery cell technology
FREYR Battery is on a mission to deliver the world`s most cost effective, efficient and environmentally friendly batteries. There is enormous competition to take this position and FREYR is well placed to take a strong role in accelerating the decarbonization of transportation and energy systems.
To achieve this, FREYR plans to develop gigafactories producing battery cells in Norway, Finland, the US and other locations, positioning the company as a major global battery cell supplier.
We will soon be opening the doors to our Customer Qualification Plant in Mo i Rana in northern Norway. Here we will validate and improve technology, materials, and cell designs as we prepare for commercial production. Our first gigafactory is planned for Mo i Rana, and our second in Vaasa, Finland, our third in the US.
We are looking for a Mechanical Product Engineer to take responsibility for a broad platform working on al steps of industrializing new products
The Product Management group functions as the link between Technology Development and Sales / Market. The creation of this link is the key to making our technology useful for the end-user.
Your main tasks include:
- Work with product development and engineering
- Li-Ion cell design and specification
- Battery module/system design and specification
- Mechanical drawing approval
- Documentation management
- DFMEA
- Requirement engineering and product certification
We are looking for the following qualifications:
- PhD or MSc in Mechanical/Physical engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with relevant applications
- Good understanding of the fundamentals of a lithium – ion battery
- Experience in working with documentation management within quality focus systems
- Mastering CAD / Solidworks and drawing approval
- Experience from requirement engineering and product certification
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
The following qualifications are advantageous, but not a requirement:
- Experience from Li-ion cell/battery design
- Experience of working in an international company
- Experience in establishing and working with quality systems for new product introduction
